Why Disney Is Poised for Double-Digit Gain

December 2, 2014 by Harry Joiner - Add Comment
Merchandise sales for last year’s megahit movie Frozen are not the reason Disney (DIS) stock is soaring, but they aren’t hurting things. Likewise the success of this holiday season’s screen fare, Big Hero Six and its very-expensive-albeit-technically-amazing production tools, is also a welcome surprise in revenue help. But the soon–to-be biggest revenue driver of this time of year has probably eluded most investors—college football’s new playoffs. Advertising money from ESPN, the biggest source of Disney’s revenue, will likely increase enough to make Disney execs exclaim, “Roll Tide.” Source: Markets

The Bizarro World of Investment Advice

December 1, 2014 by Harry Joiner - Add Comment
Filed under: Investing Getty Images “Bizarro World” is a planet (“Htrae,” which is “earth” spelled backwards) that originated from the fertile minds at DC Comics. On this planet, everything is the opposite of what’s on earth. Bonds are sold with a guarantee they will lose money. The dumbest citizens are in charge of solving crimes. Jerry Seinfeld brought Bizarro World into the popular culture in a “Seinfeld” episode where he was famously quoted as saying: “Yeah. Like Bizarro Superman. Lenovo's Yoga 3 Pro Notebook: A Thin, Stylish Ultrabook Alternative

November 29, 2014 by Harry Joiner - Add Comment
For the past few weeks I’ve been living with an almost anorexically thin notebook. Lenovo’s Yoga 3 Pro, with its trademark “watchband” hinge is the thinnest full-fledged notebook I’ve ever used.
