Here’s the funny thing about the energy space. Nobody seemed to pay much attention when Aubrey McClendon and Tom Ward were taking on billions of dollars in financing to build Chesapeake Energy and Sandridge Energy until balance sheets were so bloated they needed to sell assets. But if millennials get a couple hundred million in venture capital to invest in shale wells, the whole industry starts crying “Bubble! Bubble!”

In this “Digging for Value” video, Fool energy and materials analyst Joel South and contributor Tyler Crowe go beyond the old wildcatters claims that the sky is falling and discuss the traits that investors should look for in the energy space that could result in a bubble. Find out what those key points are by tuning in.

Don’t let the old money in energy be the only ones to benefit from America’s oil boom
Record oil and natural gas production is revolutionizing the United States’ energy position. Finding the right plays while historic amounts of capital expenditures are flooding the industry will pad your investment nest egg. For this reason, the Motley Fool is offering a look at three energy companies using a small IRS “loophole” to help line investor pockets. Learn this strategy, and the energy companies taking advantage, in our special report “The IRS Is Daring You To Make This Energy Investment.” Don’t miss out on this timely opportunity; click here to access your report — it’s absolutely free.
