The Week Ahead: Three Reasons Not to Jump into Stocks Now

November 8, 2014 by Harry Joiner - Add Comment
The stock market?s powerful rally from the October lows has definitely impressed most professional analysts and the financial media. Some commentators that were recommending the short side of the market in October, are now back in the bullish camp. Others, when asked if they have changed their view, point to their macro view of why the liquidity-driven economy and the stock market can?t continue to stay strong for much longer. Of course, these macro views may be right at some point but those hedge funds that follow a macro strategy have had a dismal year. One $15 billion fund was [...]

Tesla's Earnings Review: Inefficiencies in Transition to New Assembly Line Force Outlook Revision

November 7, 2014 by Harry Joiner - Add Comment
The automaker delivered a record 7,785 vehicles this quarter, but production fell down to 7,200 vehicles this quarter, as the shutdown of the Fremont factory resulting from a shift to a new assembly line and production system hurt production more than expected. As a result, the company had to sell cars off showroom floors and testers in order to meet as much demand as it could. Citing the production deficit, Tesla cut down guidance for deliveries in fiscal 2014 down to 33,000 from 35,000. Source: Markets

New 52-Week Low Could Prompt More Insider Buying At Herbalife

November 7, 2014 by Harry Joiner - Add Comment
In trading on Friday, shares of Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE: HLF) touched a new 52-week low of $38.00/share. That’s a $45.51 share price drop, or -54.50% decline from the 52-week high of $83.51 set back on 01/08/2014. Large percentage drops always require that the stock post even larger percentage gains from the low in order to recover the old price point, and for HLF that means the stock would have to gain 119.76% to get back to the 52-week high. For a move like that, Herbalife Ltd. would need fundamental strength at the business level. Source: Markets
