Google‘s Nest thermostat and ADT‘s  home-security systems are two of the biggest names in the connected-home arena, but they are far from the only ones. Heck, there’s a whole conference dedicated to the market.

Fresh from Connections — “The Premier Connected Home Conference” — Motley Fool Tech Bureau Chief Max Macaluso and Senior Tech Analyst Eric Bleeker discuss Nest, ADT, and the industry as a whole in the video below. 

At the heart of their discussion is whether the well-established home automation and security market should fear the wave of new entrants like Nest, Dropcam, and SmartThings, or whether consumers will favor companies that offer professionally installed services like ADT or large telecom companies.
